Open House London: Beyond the Olympic Park
Every London Open House weekend we lead our popular ‘Beyond the Olympic Park’ walk. Last year the walk began in the Queen Elizabeth Park itself and followed the River Lea to the Thames at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

A Lower Lea walk which explored the river’s central role in both supplying London with water, and removing its effluent – not always successfully….

Ralph Ward spoke at the Living Maps symposium: LONDON’ S TURNING – a day conference examining the impact of change on east London’s communities since 2012
Michael Owens spoke in Shanghai in April 2017 about London’s spatial development, London’s culture and creative economy, development and government policy in UK northern cities
In 2014, we hosted the LUV Balfron Season Soirees, a season of dinner debates on the transformation (or not ?) of east London which took place on the 24th floor of Goldfinger’s famous and much-loved tower in Poplar. We encouraged contested views of the process of change in the Tower Block and the neighbourhood.
We also contributed to the London Festival of Architecture International Showcase and the Balfron Season, delivering debates, tours of Poplar and more in and around the Balfron Tower.

A visit by Professor Zhu of the Chinese Leadership Academy, Pudong, Shanghai who is working on a comparative study between London and Shanghai as ‘Creative Cities’. Our collaboration will continue in 2015.
The Frederiksburg Municipality Copenhagen Planning/Design Office field trip to Stratford and Tech City.

A walk from Stratford City to Canary Wharf’ titled ‘Penetrating the Impenetrable’ – via Abbey Mills, Three Mills, River Lea and Poplar, with a stop to enjoy the view of the route from the top floor of the Balfron Tower.

Michael Owens collaborated with FIT CITY to deliver the Architecture Association’s Night School run tours led by FIT CITY and LUV, exploring historic and contemporary development around Bloomsbury and beyond.
